This year marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's
birth, and what better way to celebrate her timeless work than by
picturing the writer herself as a friendly ghost, guiding us through the
story of her 1818 novel „Northanger Abbey“, whispering her clever commentary from the past.
While we delve into selected passages of the text together, we will focus on how Austen masterfully parodies Gothic fiction, while also exploring the novel's themes of romance, coming-of-age, social critique, and the power of imagination.
